Client News ST. VINCENT DE PAUL EXPANDS AND RELOCATES MT. WASHINGTON THRIFT STORE December 14, 2009 Organization’s Thrift Store Business Is In Growth Mode CINCINNATI, OH — December 14, 2009 — The Society of St. Vincent de Paul has relocated its Mt. Washington thrift store to a newly constructed, stand-alone building at 2300 Beechmont Avenue. The new store and donation center is 10,000 square feet, more than double the size of the previous location at 2129 Beechmont Avenue, and is staffed to assist donors dropping off donations, with increased free parking. “Our Mt. Washington store has been very successful and is a vital part of the community, so we wanted to stay in the area. The location at 2300 Beechmont is ideal not only in size, but the location is more convenient and the frontage provides a greater level of visibility”, said Prentice Carter, Director of Operations, St. Vincent de Paul. “Our stores provide clothing, household goods, and other essential items to people in need — families on tight budgets, the elderly on fixed incomes, the working poor and bargain hunters. Those who need help most receive no-cost goods at our stores through a voucher system”, he continued. In 2008, St. Vincent de Paul added a new 14,000 square foot store in Mason and plans to continue expanding store operations in the future. Proceeds from sales at St. Vincent de Paul’s six local thrift stores support the organization’s mission of local neighbors helping neighbors. In addition to the larger retail space in Mt. Washington, St. Vincent de Paul plans to add 3-4 new employees and is now open seven days a week. For details on hours of operations of the Mt. Washington Thrift Store and other St. Vincent de Paul Thrift Store locations in Cincinnati, go to http://www.svdpcincinnati.org/what_we_do/thrift_locations.html. St. Vincent de Paul accepts donations of gently used clothing, household items, furniture and cars year-round. All six thrift stores offer convenient donation drop-boxes; accept drop-off donations during hours of operation, or pick-ups can be scheduled by calling 513-421-CARE (2273). Tax receipts will be provided for donated items.
