LAROSA’S CHAIRMAN NAMED BOARD MEMBER OF THE YEAR BY NATIONAL CASA ASSOCIATION

CINCINNATI, OH - June 18, 2012 - Cincinnati-based LaRosa’s, Inc. Chairman TD Hughes, has been bestowed the National CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates for Children) Association’s Board Member of the Year Award for his service as Past Board President of ProKids. ProKids is a non-profit organization that serves children in foster care, helping to ensure they are in a safe and supportive home environment, and shepherding those children to permanent homes.

The recognition was presented at CASA’s Awards of Excellence banquet in Washington D.C. earlier this month. Hughes was selected from among the members of over 1,000 boards of CASA organizations throughout the country. Under his leadership, ProKids doubled the number of children served. Hughes also helped set the stage for an even larger leap, by setting a goal to serve all Hamilton County children awaiting foster care by 2016.“TD’s talent for strategic planning helped our board set a solid direction for ProKids over the next 5 years” said Tracy Cook, ProKids Executive Director. “He helped us create lofty, but attainable targets. He has been the vessel to improve ProKids as an organization and pillar in the community”, she said.

For Hughes, who marked 50 years of employment with LaRosa’s, Inc. this year, his passion for community involvement is business as usual. “One of the many things Buddy LaRosa (LaRosa’s founder) taught me is the importance of giving back. It’s always been a part of what we do. It also happens to be very fulfilling for me, personally” said Hughes.
