In Uncertainty, Just Do the Work

Feeling tired of coming up with new angles or ways to think about COVID-19? Tired of the emotional roller coaster of cancelled events and trips that are rescheduled only to be cancelled again? Tired of having made up your mind about 2020 only to be thrown another curve ball? Same.

The days of blogs and articles that tell you how to ‘capitalize’ on this time are losing meaning. Remember four months ago when everyone was using quarantine to become their ‘best selves’? Now we’re just existing in this situation, and we’ll be existing here for who knows how long. In the uncertainty and constant back-and-forth, there’s only one piece of advice that is actually worth listening to.

Just keep your head down and DO the work

Don’t get caught up in the drama of everyone’s constantly changing opinions, or the loudest voices in the room. Don’t let fear drive your decisions and actions. Make good decisions, be considerate, and just do the work.

Once COVID-19 is really over and has become another section in the history books, you’ll look back at this time in one of two ways. You’ll either think of the resilience you showed and all that you accomplished in spite of COVID-19, or you’ll think of the months and/or years that you froze in fear and let life pass you by when you could have simply been doing the work and moving forward.

“Someone's sitting in the shade today because someone planted a tree a long time ago." ― Warren Buffett

Don’t let time pass you by. Continue to keep your head down, work steadily and you will reap the rewards of your focus for years to come. You can either sit around and worry about the work that needs to be done and wonder how you will ever do it, or you can just do it.
