TASTE OF BELGIUM ANNOUNCES LENTEN MENU FEATURING SHRIMP & GRITS WAFFLE

Seafood-focused Belgian Entrée Options are Customer Favorites

CINCINNATI, OH – March 3, 2025 Beginning Wednesday, March 5, Taste of Belgium is offering a limited-time selection of menu items for the official start of Lent.  Taste of Belgium’s signature waffle headlines the Lenten menu with the Shrimp & Grits Waffle, a cheddar grits waffle with Cajun-spiced shrimp in a creole white wine sauce accented with green onions.  Taste of Belgium will offer five additional meatless options throughout the Lenten season, until Thursday, April 17.

“Our shrimp & grits waffle is one of the most requested entrees on our menu – so we decided Lent was the perfect time for a comeback,” said Jean-François Flechet, Founder of Taste of Belgium. “It’s a Belgian take on a traditionally New Orleans dish,” Flechet continued.

Taste of Belgium customers can also select from the following meatless entrees during Lent:

-       Fish & Frites – Kwaremont beer battered haddock with kale slaw, tartar sauce and frites

-       Nicoise Salad – seared tuna with 80 Acres greens, haricots verts, fingerling potatoes, sweet baby peppers, grape tomatoes, olives, hard-boiled egg and red wine vinaigrette

-       Fish Sandwich - Kwaremont beer battered haddock with kale slaw & tartar sauce on a brioche bun

-       Mussels du Jour – prepared with fresh, seasonal ingredients

-       Farmer’s Fresh Ciabatta Sandwich – cucumber, tomato, carrot, spinach and herbed farmer’s cheese on house-made ciabatta

Taste of Belgium’s fish is battered with a Belgian Golden Ale called Kwaremont, providing a distinctive, light and crisp crunch.

All Lenten menu items are perfectly complemented by the bistro’s unmatched selection of imported beers. All Lenten menu items are available during lunch and dinner service at Taste of Belgium’s three Cincinnati bistros at The Banks, in Over-the-Rhine and Rookwood, as well as through carryout, or delivery through their delivery partners.

Taste of Belgium continues to be committed to introducing Greater Cincinnatians to the rich flavors of Belgian cuisine, exceptional service and customer satisfaction. They are also dedicated to using locally-sourced ingredients and building relationships with local food purveyors who provide the fresh ingredients that define every dish.
