“Stepping On” Event Series Aims to Help Reduce Fall Risk Among Vision-Loss Affected People Aged 65 and Older

Cincinnati, OH – January 20, 2026 Cincinnati Association for the Blind and Visually Impaired (CABVI), the region’s leading nonprofit providing comprehensive services for people who are blind or visually impaired, has partnered with TriHealth to offer “Stepping On,” an evidence-based program designed to reduce fall risk and increase confidence among adults aged 65 and older with vision loss. The free seven-week series begins on February 18, 2026, and features TriHealth guest experts, including occupational and physical therapists, pharmacist, vision specialist and community safety expert, delivering practical strategies on:

-       Simple, engaging exercises to improve balance and strength

-       How medications can increase fall risk

-       Reducing fall hazards at home

-       Smart approaches to staying safe and steady outside the home

-       How vision impacts balance and mobility

-       The role of vitamin D and calcium in preventing fall-related injuries

“Falls are common among older adults, and vision loss further increases that risk and the potential for long-term health challenges,” said Aaron Bley, Chief Mission Officer of CABVI. “By focusing on prevention, the program equips participants with techniques to help protect mobility, reduce preventable injuries and support healthier lifestyles. We are proud to partner with the experts at TriHealth to deliver this essential support to our community,” Mr. Bley continued. The series is designed for adults aged 65 and older and is particularly valuable for the caregivers and family members who support them.

Series sessions for the free seven-week program are 10:00 AM to 12:00 Noon on Wednesdays, February 18 through April 1, at The Commons in CABVI, 2045 Gilbert Ave. in Walnut Hills, Cincinnati.
