#WFH And Other Terms Coined Amid COVID-19

The coronavirus global pandemic has had major, serious and unexpected implications for many. While the impact is great, the innovation produced out of necessity has been inspiring and has fostered a sense of community, even as we enter quarantine. From beer delivery vans that operate like ice cream trucks, to breweries switching production from beer to hand sanitizer, to new terminology that has been created during the past week–– we’re putting our creativity swiftly into action. To take a break from the seriousness of the situation for a moment, take a look at a few of the new ‘terms’ that have been coined during the last few weeks ––

1.     WFH : ‘Work From Home’ –– All it takes is a quick search on Twitter to see the new wave of people working from home and cute pics of their ‘coworkers’ (ie. dogs, cats and kids).

2.     Social Distancing –– While social distancing isn’t new… it definitely has not been part of our daily lives in recent years, beyond self-inflicted social distancing as we spend more time with Instagram than with actual people. Will social distancing mandates create better relationships with those around us ? Maybe so.

3.     Contactless-Delivery –– We’ve heard of contact-less payment ––i.e. Apple Pay, but contact-less delivery? That’s a little different. Restaurants have devised new ways to deliver food to your home in ways that consider sensitivities and personal preferences, for example.

4.     Corona-cation –– While many schools are taking off weeks at a time, students and teachers are soaking up their ‘corona-cations’… at least those who haven’t moved to online schooling yet.

5.     Quaran-tunes –– Do you have your quarantine playlist put together yet? You know, your quaran-tunes??

Sending our best regards for your continued health & safety; we’ll get through this together–– well 6 feet apart, that is.
